Summary:
The effect of two fossil fuel and two nuclear plants on a near-shore seagrass community have been studied in South Biscayne Bay, Dade County, Florida, over the past four years in this ERDA grant. The focus of the study has been to delineate the effects that a series of various polluttants have had on the dominant system of the seagrass Thalassia testudinum and its related community. In order to separate the perturbation of the specific pollutant from the natural fluctuations of the system, we have made efforts to understand the dynamic processes in adjacent untouched areas.
