The unconfined Biscayne aquifer underlies all of Dade County, Florida. This aquifer is wedge-shaped and comprised primarily of limestone, sandstone, and sand. Because of interest in the East Everglades area as a recharge area in Dade County, the Metropolitan Dade County Planning Department requested the U.S. Geological Survey to prepare a map defining the base of the Biscayne aquifer in the East Everglades., The purpose of this report is to present the results of the investigation in terms of...

Abstract/Description
-
The Florida Geological Survey, in cooperation with the U.S. Geological Survey and the city of Sarasota, drilled and analyzed a deep core hole located at the Sarasota Downtown Well Field. The investigation focused on the Neogene and Paleogene lithostratigraphy and the Floridan aquifer system. A lithologic description for the core was genereated utilizing a binocular microscope.

In June 1988, the Florida Geological Survey and the South Florida Water Management District entered into a contract to conduct a joint project in Lee, Hendry and Collier counties. The objectives of this project were to increase the geologic/hydrogeologic well data available in these counties, to translate existing lithologic descriptions of wells within the district to computer format and to add this data to the District computer data base. These objectives were met by the translation of over...

The objectives of this project were to increase the geologic/hydrogeologic well data available in these counties, to translate existing lithologic descriptions of wells within the district to computer format and to add this data to the District computer data base. These objectives were met by the translation of over 180 existing well logs to computer format, by drilling and evaluating the data for six cores, and merging all of this data with the existing FGS and District computer data bases.
