Abstract/Description:
Field investigations made in June of 1962 in association with the Florida Conservation Patrol to survey three species of bivalve mollusks that have commercial significance in Charlotte County and the vicinity. The species studied were the Quahog hardshell clam, Mercenaria campechiensis, the eastern oyster, Crassostrea virginica, and the Rangia marsh clam, Rangia cuneata. The study is aimed at preserving the viability of commercial clam and oyster harvesting in the area in the face of increasing urbanization.
