- Abstract/Description:
- Presents a study aimed at comparing the hydrodynamics and biodynamics of selected residential canals in South Florida and drawing conclusions regarding the water quality in those canals. Sunfish Cove and Cobia Bay in Punta Gorda, Bangsberg W. And Severin Canal in Port Charlotte, North Canal and South Canal near the Loxahatchee River, and North Canal in South Canal near Pompano Beach were studied. Maps, charts, and tables are included. Site descriptions, hydrographic field data, hydrographic analysis, canal flushing, and numerical modeling of pollutant transport in dead end canals are addressed. Bathymetry data, tidal data, and preliminary calculations of exchange volumes, exchange ratios, and minimum residence times are appended.
