Summary:
The purpose of this report is to summarize information on hydraulics, salinity distribution, and freshwater flushing in the tidal Peace River, not only for use in management, but also as a referrnce source for future estuarine studies. The report was prepared by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the Florida Department of Environmental Regulation and is based primarily on data collected during 1982-86 as part of the Charlotte Harbor estuarine investigation. The report includes information on river bathymetry, flood-plain characteristics, tributary and ground-water inflows, tidal stage, velocity and discharge, salinity distribution and stratification, and freshwater replacement time.
