Tampa Bay Sediment Quality Workshop
- Summary:
- The purpose of this report is to summarize the results of the second Science Advisory Group workshop. The objectives of the workshop were to present the results of key studies on sediment quality conditions in Tampa Bay; to develop ecosystem objectives that articulate the long-term goals for managing bedded sediments in Tampa Bay; to identify and evaluate candidate ecosystem quality indicators, and associated metrics, that could be used to measure attainment of the ecosystem objectives (including physical, chemical, and biological indicators); to establish numerical targets for priority indicators and metrics; to review and propose refinements to existing monitoring programs based on the ecosystem quality indicators that were identified; to propose sediment management strategies that would support the ecosystem goals and objectives that have been identified for Tampa Bay; and to quantify relationships between source loadings and sediment quality.
