| Summary: | 157 species of marine algae (38 Chlorophyta, 29 Phaeophyta, 85 Rhodophyta, 5 Cyanophyta) have been identified from the Hourglass cruises of the Marine Research Laboratory, Florida Board of Conservation. The monthly collections were made on the continental shelf in the Gulf of Mexico between the entrance to Tampa Bay and Fort Myers at depths of 6 to 73 meters over a period of 28 months and included a variety of oceanographic data which have served as a basis for certain ecological observations, especially temperature relationships. 18 of the species appear to be new records for Florida. | |
