Summary:
The Cross State Dump, 7 miles west of West Palm Beach has been used a solid waste disposal site since the late 1940's. The Palm Beach County Engineering Department and the Department of Health have been concerned about the effect that the accumulation of wastes in the landfill might have on the ground-water supplies in the vicinity. The U.S. Geological Survey made a study, in cooperation with those agencies, to evaluate the quality of ground water beneath and adjacent to the dump. This report is based on information obtained from 22 wells and 10 canal sites from August 1970 through March 1972.
