Date Issued:
1999
Summary:
The purposes of this report are to provide summary descriptions of the ground-water budgets of 14 regional aquifer systems, which provided nearly half of the ground water pumped in the United States during the 1970s and 1980s; to describe the hydraulic and geologic factors that control flow through regional aquifer systems under natural conditions; and to describe the sources of water withdrawn from the regional aquifer systems on the basis of differences between predevelopment and development ground-water budgets.
