Summary: Taylor Slough serves as one of the primary drainage basin's within Everglades National Park, FL. The slough has become vulnerable to impact from development and drainage efforts on adjacent properties. The authors undertook a study to provide basic information on the vegetation- environment relationships within the slough. This documentation of baseline conditions may be used to predict and assess changes resulting from hydrological manipulation. The authors used a variety of tools to construct this baseline, including: transect surveys of elevation and soil depths, vegetation map, qualitative/quantitiative vegetation sampling, description of plant communities at poles, photopoints, and permanent plots.
