The Bird Drive Everglades Basin, a 13 square mile area of wetlands in north central Dade County, was studied as part of a Special Area Managment Plan (SAMP). This report gives the results of investigations of the Basin's natural resources. The primary foci of these studies were plant communities, fauna, and wetland functions. The Pennusuco Everglades, a wetland area of approximately 20 square miles directly to the north of the Bird Drvie Everglades Basin, received similar but less extensive study.
