The focus of this document is the development of a method to determine if adopted seagrass acreage goals and water quality targets for Tampa Bay are being achieved. The primary objectives were to define what constitutes a significant increase in chlorophyll-a in Tampa Bay, and to develop a systematic framework for defining potential management responses to such changes. This report describes existing monitoring programs from which data were used in the development of the decision process, the...

The primary objectives were to define what constitutes a significant increase in chlorophyll-a in Tampa Bay, and to develop a systematic framework for defining potential management responses to such changes. This technique can be used for planting and rehabilitating areas damaged by coastal engineering activities, for creating eelgrass beds to stabilize substrates, and provide habitats for numerous commercially and recreationally important marine species. The planting technique may also prove to be effective for other seagrass species.

- Preliminary analyses of seagrass and benthic infauna in Johnson and Clam Bays, Collier County, Florida.
- Name/Creator
-
Devlin, Donna J., Gore, Robert H., Proffitt, C. Edward., Collier County (Fla.), PALMM (Project)
- Abstract/Description
-
Development and proposed development has brought about the need for seagrass and infauna studies to help determine the impact of present and future development on the ecosystem. This report compares the ecosystem of Clam Bay, considered to be a "stressed", or developed system, and Johnson Bay, considered to be an unstressed area.
