The Annex to the Snyder Boys School in 1914, looking southwest towards the Gulf of Mexico. At the extreme left a portion of a Gulfside dock is just visible. Gulf docks didn't stand up well under winter storms and hurricanes.

Steamer at Dock.

A steamer, either the Gladys or the Dixie, is pulled up to the dock in 1914 at Captiva, later called Andy's Dock. Rails for baggage carts are visible on the dock, and the buildings provided storage. The Snyder Boys School students and all other visitors to Captiva came by steamer in the early years.
